Once again, I was chosen to work with a law firm and obviously accepted the challenge. Lawyers have the tradition as an essential pillar, and many firms have decades of solidity based on this tradition. In a few cases, it is possible to innovate. That was the challenge I accepted when I agreed to work for Bastos & Azevedo Associate Attorneys, a law firm in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I developed the visual identity of the law firm Bastos & Azevedo Associate Attorneys from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
I developed the visual identity of the law firm. The brand is based on the concept of unity, focus, and stability and reflects the principles that guide the company.

Key points
Human beings have an innate tendency to avoid loss rather than achieve gain. We are hardwired for it. Working with clients who are highly attached to a conservative tradition, especially regarding image, is always challenging. Developing a brand for a client who understands tradition while also wanting modernity is undoubtedly an exciting challenge.
What I learned
I learned how to deal with a highly conservative client in this project. My biggest challenge was not necessarily creating an identity. Was to explain that the identity made sense based on the client’s expectations and desires and the detailed analysis of the brief that led to the creation. This briefing, in turn, was exceptionally well done, just as a way to protect me against the “conservatism” of the client.
