A distinctive, inclusive, and modern proposal for dealing with digital payments

iti Itaú: A payment app made for Brazilian people.

Brazilians have reinvented themselves in search of more time and better experiences, creating new ways to communicate, work and consume. With an optimistic view of these changes, Itaú bank saw the opportunity to transform the relationship with money. Thus iti was born: a platform that reinvents the experience of paying, receiving, buying, and selling. The iti platform is a digital wallet that can be used by Itaú bank and non-bank clients.

iti wants to be in people’s daily lives and evolve with speed to facilitate any type of exchange, financial or otherwise. The Digital Design project of the iti app is the result of countless surveys of the needs of the public, rounds of continuous testing with users, and the very construction of the brand personality. My work as a UI/UX designer was to translate a great deal of this data into interfaces and interactions.

The client

Banco Itaú Unibanco S.A. is a Brazilian financial services company headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Itaú Unibanco was formed through the merger of Banco Itaú and Unibanco in 2008 and is one of the largest financial institutions in Brazil. Present in 21 countries, the bank has about 5 thousand agencies in Brazil and abroad.

What I did

I was part of the team that worked on the concept of the application and the deployment of several pieces, maintaining the brand's identity. For example, the design system and icons were my tasks and a good part of the interactions, animations, and transitions.

Tools I used

Figma / Adobe Illustrator / Adobe Photoshop / Adobe After Effects

Project Outcome

Key points

I worked with a large, multidisciplinary team for several months. The design system’s development was slow initially, but how we structured the system allowed for quick design changes and proved to be flexible. The team communication and management helped resolve conflicts that were not only creative but could have affected the project’s outcome. This was one of the most significant projects I have worked on in the last few years.

What I learned

I learned a lot about how to deal with data-driven design, and since then, I have made sure to apply this concept to all the projects I work on or coordinate whenever possible. I also learned a lot about Figma, as this was the first big professional project where I used the tool practically from start to finish.

I'm always looking for new challenges, projects and creative partnerships. Shall we talk?

Feel free to contact me. I love coffee and good conversations!
