I have always loved metaphors and iconography, mainly when applied to synthesize a complex idea or concept. Whenever possible, I try to add some level of abstraction to my pieces, as I did in this work. When used in a narrative, everything becomes even more enjoyable. I created a video for the release of the novel “Eterna: o som do amor” (in free translation, “Eternal: the sound of love”), a supernatural story written by Bianca Souza, a Brazilian writer.
Abstract, iconographic, and narrative: the power of abstraction as a narrative element
I created a video for the release of the novel "Eterna: o som do amor", a supernatural story written by Bianca Souza, a Brazilian writer.
The concept of the video revolves around the abstraction of forms that arise from letters, giving life to the narrative plot of the book. The objective is to invite the reader to get to know the book, which, by the way, is very interesting! Besides creating the animation script, I was responsible for all the production details of the video, including animations, composition, and soundtrack editing.
Project Outcome
Key points
In this job, I developed an animation to promote a book, or rather, the idea behind the book. Using a combination of iconographic references, the animations present a bit about the book’s story without necessarily revealing too much about the plot.
What I learned
One of the biggest takeaways from this job was working again with MoGraph, a set of tools that allow procedural modeling and animation within Cinema 4D. For several reasons, Cinema 4D is the 3D application of choice for motion graphics artists. MoGraph is definitely one of them!
I'm always looking for new challenges, projects and creative partnerships. Shall we talk?
Feel free to contact me. I love coffee and good conversations!
